What It Means to Be a Personal Chef with Marquise

Personal chef work is very different from catering or restaurant work.

You don't simply cook your best dishes — you build menus around each client's needs, tastes, and dietary goals, and make every plate look and taste amazing.

You aren't following a restaurant's recipes — you create your own and adapt on the fly for each household.

Every meal must look and taste beautiful, even days later. Proper technique and planning for reheating are essential.

You design fresh menus every week. No two weeks are alike — a personal chef may prepare 50+ different items in a single week.

A personal chef is always learning: new dishes, techniques, and the latest in health and nutrition. It's a lifestyle, not a job.

You work directly with families to keep them nourished, healthy, and happy.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and execute weekly in-home meal prep for multiple families.
  • Prepare meals aligned with each household's health goals and dietary needs — Mediterranean, plant-forward, gluten-free, keto, Whole30, diabetic-friendly, and more.
  • Occasionally cook for small private events with an elevated dining experience.
  • Manage client schedules, shopping lists, and kitchen organization independently.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients and the Marquise team.

Required Qualifications

  • Culinary school degree or certificate
  • Food Safety Manager certification (ServSafe or equivalent) — we reimburse
  • Valid driver's license, insured vehicle, and reliable transportation
  • Experience working independently in clients' homes
  • Proficiency with meal prep and small-event cooking
  • Familiarity with dietary styles — Mediterranean, plant-based, keto, Whole30, diabetic, and other specialty diets
  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients
  • Able to lift 25 lbs and stay on your feet for several hours
  • Personal computer, printer, and basic tech competency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nutrition certification or formal training in specialty diets
  • Prior experience as a personal chef
  • Background in Mediterranean or Middle Eastern cuisine

Open Position: Part-Time Personal Chef

Atelier Marquise is seeking a part-time personal chef to join our team, preparing weekly in-home meals for families across the MetroWest Boston area. This is a flexible, part-time role, ideal for an experienced chef who thrives on independence and creativity.

  • Pay: $35–$40/hr for weekly clients, based on experience
  • Schedule: Part-time and flexible; weekly clients are typically Monday–Friday
  • Location: In clients' homes across the MetroWest Boston area
